FOURTH GRADE WEEKLY
May 12-May 16, 2008
Bible We are
completing our study of the kings and prophets of
May 16, 2008. This will be an open-note
test. Students should still study and
review, because they will
have limited time to take the
test and will need to be familiar enough with the information so they will know
right where to find it if
they are unsure of an answer.
We will be reviewing Cat. 20 and learn Cat. 21.
We will take time for recitations whenever the students are
ready. I apologize for not taking enough
time to listen to everyone’s recitations this past week.
Cat. 20 Q. Did God leave all mankind to perish in the
estate of sin and misery?
A. God having, out of his mere good pleasure,
from all eternity,
elected some to everlasting life,
did enter into a covenant of grace,
to deliver them out of the estate of sin and
misery,
and to bring them to salvation by
a Redeemer.
Cat. 21 Q. Who is the Redeemer of God’s elect?
A. The
only Redeemer of God’s elect is the Lord Jesus Christ,
who, being the
eternal Son of God, became man,
and so was, and continueth to be God and man in two distinct natures,
and
one person, forever.
Spelling We will NOT be having individualized lists for the rest of the year. In other words, we will all
be taking tests on all 20 words for each of the final units. We
will be having our final test on Unit 35 on
Monday, May 19
(because of the Bible and
pretests home so they know which words in particular they need to
study for the test.
Language We will have a brief unit on Adverbs.
The quilts look great! I’m
so proud of all your hard work and good reading!
Please continue reading 30 minutes aloud and writing them in your
planners. Parents, please remember to
initial or sign this by Friday morning. We will do this until the very end of the
year. Students who don’t have it recorded will get a zero for that grade if
they don’t have it written down.
Writing We will be finishing our personality feature report. If you have not already done so,
please send a photograph of your child’s grandparent or “grandparent” by
Tuesday, May 13. If they do not have a
photograph, they will have to draw a picture. It may either be a current picture or one
from when he or she was a child. We will
be using these in our articles and writing captions to go with them.
Science Each
student will do a mini research project on a bird or sea creature. On Monday the children will receive information
to help guide them in their research.
We will compile and organize our information in the computer lab using Power
Point.
History The children are welcome to read any part of the history book we
have not covered either at home or during free time at school. We will touch on chapters 17-19 the next two
weeks.
Math Use those multiplication and
division flashcards at home to review facts.
We will be highlighting the remainder of the math concepts in the book by
combining lessons and doing a
supplemental practice, part of a lesson, or a worksheet. Our next test will be on Tuesday, May 13.
It will be open book, buddy up, or work alone.
P.E. Baseball Rules Test – Thursday, May 15. Don’t forget to study!
