M/M Library Policies and Procedures

1.      Kindergarten and 1st grade students may borrow one book at a time.  Second through sixth graders may borrow two books at a time.  Pre-K students do not check out books.

2.      Kindergarten through third grade students may check books out for one week at a time. Second and third grade students may renew books for one-week increments.  A one-week grace period will also be allowed if the book is forgotten.

3.      Fourth through sixth grade students may check books out for two weeks at a time.  Books may be renewed for two-week increments.  A one-week grace period will also be allowed if the book is forgotten.

4.      Teachers:  Please collect books and have them delivered to the library by 8:15 A.M. on library day.  This will ensure that books are checked in before your class arrives.

Fines

1.      A fine of 5¢ per school day will be charged for all overdue books.

2.      Overdue notices will be sent home with the students each week, as necessary.

3.      Privileges will be suspended if the student owes more than 50¢.

Reservations

1.      A student or teacher may place a reserve request on a material that is currently on loan.  When the material is returned, the person requesting the material will be notified.

2.      Reserved materials may only be renewed once by the current borrower.

Class Rules

1.      Please enter the library quietly and find your seat without talking.  Come in prepared to listen to directions.

2.      Be kind.  God calls us to treat one another as we would be treated.

3.      Talk quietly.  Since the library is a place for reading, we need to be quiet because some people read best in a quiet atmosphere.

4.      Respect others.  We can do this by taking turns, sharing, talking quietly, and speaking respectfully.

5.      Treat books properly.  Please do not "dog-ear" pages, write in books, spill on books, etc.  Please make sure to put books back where you found them, spine out, right side up.  If you're not sure where the book goes, ask for help.

6.      Use shelf markers.  When you're looking for a book and you think you've found one you like, slide your shelf marker next to the book on the shelf and pull the book out.  If you decide to check out the book, pull out your shelf marker.  If you decide to put the book back, slide the book, spine out, right side up, next to the shelf marker.  Then pull your shelf marker out.
