Christmas Around the World Oral Presentation Project
Due Dec. 17-18 (as scheduled with me)
You may email me or write your child’s top three choices for countries. I will try to work out
I. Research your country for the following information:
1. Location in the world
2. Climate and weather during Christmas
3. Date they celebrate Christmas
4. Traditional costume of country
5. Ways they celebrate a Christian Christmas
6. Game or activity of that country
7. Favorite foods during Christmas- include one recipe
II. Follow these instructions for the presentation:
1. Have note cards prepared with the above information to aide
in your presentation. DO NOT READ your presentation. You may refer to your note cards for
dates or specific information.
2. Dress in the traditional costume of your country or draw a poster
illustrating it. Do not say they dress like we do.
3.
Make/bring
a game from that country to play with the class
4. Bring anything else that would make your presentation more
interesting. (Ex. song, story, poem, etc.)
The above items should be
ready to use during your presentation on the day it is scheduled. The
item below is due on Dec. 20th when we have our Christmas
party. We will have a “Tasting Fair” starting at 10:00. If you are bringing a
dish, it needs to be here by 9:45.
5. Cook, make, or purchase a snack, dish, or drink from that country to share with the class.
Students will schedule appointments with me to make their presentations and will hand in note cards to receive three grades. They will receive one grade for their oral presentation (reading grade), one for research (language grade), and one for costume/dish/extras (social studies grade). Other than notes, a written presentation is not required. Parents are welcome to attend their child's presentation. The password for the Nov. 30th newsletter is scheduled time. Enjoy your project!
