Elementary School (K-5)

Welcome to Westminster Christian Academy’s Elementary School!

Innovative and inspired learning, combined with a caring and structured environment, as well as teaching from a biblical worldview are the earmarks of the Westminster Christian Academy Elementary School. Our degreed and experienced teachers partner with parents in challenging students to demonstrate the love of Christ to all people and to develop a habit of excellence in all areas of life.

The chief objective of our elementary school is to develop a Christ-centered view of the world in conjunction with an excellent academic preparation. The elementary program is purposely designed with a focus on the concrete thinker because elementary students are literal and think in tangible terms. Our program includes Bible instruction, language arts (reading, phonics in grades K-3, writing, grammar, Latin, and spelling), math, science, and social studies. Our primary focus is in the areas of reading and mathematics. An equally important aspect of the WCA elementary teaching is the integration of Biblical truth in all subject areas. Professionals in P.E., music, art, computer, and library work with students each week.

Our elementary teachers have been trained to use the 4MAT educational method. 4MAT is a systematic plan for helping all learners experience success. It offers teachers an approach to reach all types of learners and includes left-brain and right-brain strategies. It also offers learners insight into their personal approach to learning. We are incorporating this methodology in our language arts program. If you want to find out more information about this program, you can go to the web site www.aboutlearning.com.

Our math teachers use manipulatives and the Singapore Math model drawing strategies that help students grasp abstract concepts in more successful ways. You can find out more about model drawing at www.singaporemath.com.

Westminster hires faculty and staff who embrace the idea of discipleship. Teachers are hired with a dual focus: to be excellent in their field and to embrace their role as model and mentor as they disciple students.
