Varsity

125 - Jon Weeks (0-1).  Jon dominated his opponent from Athens for over 4 minutes but made a costly mistake early in the 3rd period that cost him the match marring an excellent performance for Jon's 1st ever wrestling match.

135 - Taz McCoy (0-2).  Taz faced a 5A state tournament qualifier from Athens for his 1st match of the season.  Taz was able to keep up early in the match but the more experienced Athens wrestler overwhelmed Taz's defenses late in the 1st.  In Taz's second match conditioning became a factor and Taz was unable to keep pace with a lightning fast opponent from Bob Jones, losing in the 2nd period.

140 - Chris Simerly (0-2).  Chris wrestled tough early but his lack of experience cost him mid way through the 2nd period when he got caught trying to roll through a move and was pinned.  Chris worked hard in his 2nd match against a Bob Jones 6A state tournament qualifier but the match ended rather quickly when Chris was caught by a very good combination of moves.

171 - Grant Romine (0-2).  Grant dominated his 1st opponent early, nearly pinning him in the 1st period.  He was leading the match in the 3rd period when a small mistake got him caught in an awkward  position that resulted in a loss.  Grant's 2nd match was a battle early, but the Bob Jones senior hit an excellent take down late in the 1st and took Grant straight to his back for the pin.

285 - Josh Cyr (0-2) - Josh Cyr started off his wrestling career by scoring a takedown right of the whistle and physically dominating his opponent for nearly 5 minutes including actually pinning his opponent in the 2nd period.  Unfortunately for Josh, his opponents shoulders were out of bounds and Josh was unable to maneuver his opponent back inside the boundary before time expired in the period.  Josh got into trouble midway through the 3rd period and end up being pinned while leading the match 8-5.  Josh's 2nd match was an even more physical battle that Josh lost 12-2 but ended up giving his opponent a concussion in the process.

Junior Varsity

119 - Shane Nelson (0-1).  Shane wrestled well in his 1st match of the season but got caught in a well run chin-and-underhook combination that he was unable to counter quickly enough before he was pinned.

125 - Jon Weeks.  Jon started his JV match with even more intensity than the his varsity match but was unable to maintain the pace getting pinned in the 3rd period for the 2nd time in the evening.

135 - Taz McCoy (1-0). Taz scored his 1st win of the season with a 45 second pin vs. a Bob Jones wrestler.

135 - Charlie Nelson (0-1).  Charlie opened his season by wrestling hard but he was unable to work out of a tough situation late in the 1st period before he was pinned.

140 - Chris Simerly (0-1).  Chris started his match strong scoring the 1st takedown and controlling his opponent throughout the 1st period.  In the 2nd period, Chris's opponent started in the down position but quickly reversed the situation and took Chris straight to his back pinning him before he could fight his way off his back.

165 - Grant Romine (2-0).  Grant started his JV season of with a bang pinning his 1st opponent in 30 seconds and following it up with a 2nd period pin giving him the lead in wins and pins on the JV level.
