WCA ABC Meeting

I.                   Welcome and Prayer – Led by Kristn Click

II.                ABC’s Future

A.                 We have a new athletic director who officially starts on June 1st.

B.                 The new stadium will be built after the football season because there is not enough time before the season begins.  However, we will have a permanent concessions stand and bathrooms built before the ’08 football season.

III.             Proposed Officers: VP – Dana Glombowski, Secretary – Kelly Deiss, Treasurer – Anita Eno with an Advisory Board of Bill and Kathy Park, Kyle and Leslie Lausee, John Cyr and Mike Willis

A.                 Discussion – Coaches have not been allowed to run for a board position in the past, nor have they been able to vote.  However, cheerleading does not fall under the normal sports guidelines according the AHAA.  In addition, no one was stepping up to the plate.  Therefore, all proposed board members were accepted and approved, including Kelly Deiss.  The board will look at the ABC bylaws for further clarification and revision on the subject.  Kristn Click also assured members that bias is not possible with coaches being required to go through the athletic director with requests, before going to the booster club.  All members vote, so no special treatment can be given to board members.

B.                 All members present voted to accept the board members as proposed, with the understanding that a new president, preferably male, will be sought after.  Kathy Park, advisory board member, mentioned that there are some possibilities.

IV.              Fundraisers

A.                 Fall Program – Glenni Lorick is in charge and has set a deadline of August 13th for coaches to have team members complete and collect ads, to get senior feature information and get team/individual photos.  Incentives were discussed, and Glenni will get the information out as soon as possible.

B.                 Spirit Wear – Kim Beasley will continue to head up the spirit wear, but she needs help.  No volunteer has come forward yet.  We will keep things going, as is, and look into possibilities of handing out key chains and a spirit wear order form to incoming families.

C.                 Field Signs – Prices for the field signs were discussed, and Dana Glombowski will get the order forms out soon.

D.                 Sports Auction – Tabled until the beginning of next year.

V.                 New ABC website and e-mail

A.                 The new ABC e-mail is abc@wca-hsv.org and goes directly to Kelly Deiss.  She will administer where the e-mails go from there.

B.                 The new website is up and running.  However, a change will be occurring within the next few weeks.  The website will be more of a “blogging” type of site.  Kelly Deiss is working on putting it together so that it will be ready to go when the school switches over.

VI.              ABC Sponsorship Program/Membership

A.                 The new sponsorship program is out, and the members voted on prices.  In addition, a new basic membership fee of $15 was proposed and accepted.  This fee is good for one family, regardless of size, and one t-shirt will be given to new members.  The ABC will be purchasing t-shirts that identify the members.  Additional t-shirts can be purchased for an extra fee.

B.                 Approval to mail out to all WCA families – Coaches will receive a “coach’s packet” for everything they need to do regarding ad sales.  All families will receive  information regarding ABC membership, ad sales, forms, etc.
