Week of Feb. 19-22

Monday	No School! I will be out from Tuesday through Friday. My daughter slipped on black ice and broke her ankle in three places. She has undergone surgery and has numerous plates, pins and screws holding her ankle together. She is also 5 and ½ months pregnant. The doctors have performed three ultra sounds and the baby appears to be fine. Chrissy has been in tremendous pain since the surgery and I am going out to help care for her and her 3 year old daughter, Anna. Chrissy’s husband is in Iraq (due home in 8 weeks). Please be in prayer for her during this very difficult time.
Tuesday	Grammar-check 7.11 in class. Do 7.12 in class aloud together. Students are to mark answers in their book. Do 7.13 for homework. *Announce Grammar Test on Friday. Johnny Tremain-read Chapters 8-10.
Wednesday	Do Grammar Worksheets-review for the Ch. 7 test on Friday. Continue to read JT. Students may continue to read past chapter 10. Test over Ch. 8-10 in Johnny Tremain will be on Monday.

Monday	Thank you for all the lovely Christmas gifts, candy, treats, and cards! I enjoyed all of it so much. I consider each student a wonderful blessing in my life! Gram.- start Chapter 6. Do 6.1. Write a report on a special family tradition.- page 140-141. (due next Thursday, Jan. 24) Vocab.- start Unit 11- introduce words and fill in the blanks.
Tuesday	Vocab-do pages127-128 (up to #20). Gram- do 6.2 in class / discuss positions of adverbs pg 129, 130. Gram- do 6.3. Finish vocab. And grammar assignments for homework. Work on your family tradition rough draft.
Wednesday	Vocab- check homework. Do page 128. Gram.- grade 6.3 in Gram. Work on family tradition report. No homework.
Thursday	Vocab- check homework/do page 129. Test tomorrow over Unit 11 words. Gram- check homework/do 6.4, 6.5. *The majority of students in this class were given an additional assignment today due to continuous talking and disruption during a time of independent work. They will write their vocabulary words on one side of the index card and the definition on the other side for all 20 words in Unit 11. Students who were silent and cooperative during that time period are excused from the assignment.
Friday	Check homework. Vocab test on Unit 11. Reminder – Family Tradition Report is due on Thursday. Introduce the background history and discuss the author of the novel Johnny Tremain. Students start reading Chapter 1. Students may want to check this book out from a library or purchase it. I only have one class set so students will not be allowed to take the book home.

Week of December 10-14

Monday	Gram- Finish Chapter 5. Do Ex. 5.10 and 5.11 for homework (we did many examples in class together). Read A Christmas Carol.

Wednesday	Gram- Finish Chapter 5. Discuss Semester exam- the exam will cover up through Chapter 5 in Grammar and 19 questions about A Christmas Carol. All questions will be multiple choice. It is recommended that students review their Grammar lessons and examples from each lesson before the exam. Read A Christmas Carol.
