Movies & Worldview Syllabus


 

Course Overview

This course will encourage students to think critically and with a Christian worldview regarding movies. Over the course of the semester, students will view various films from a number of different genres, and evaluate them based on a number of criteria such as artistic quality. Students will also evaluate films using a Christian worldview.

Materials

Students will need a notebook or paper, pens, and a Bible. 

Behavior

Be sure to consult the Student Handbook on your behavior. I expect that full attention and respect will be given to me during class, as well as any other student who is answering a question or participating in class discussion. Rude words and behavior will not be tolerated!

Assignments

For each film that is viewed, students will write a 3-5 page paper using the criteria given in class. Each paper will be due 3-4 school days after the completion of the film. During the course of the semester, students will view a film independently of class, and complete a paper.

Students will also keep a notebook of notes taken during the viewing of films. These notebooks will be turned in various times during the semester.

Grading

Review papers: 75% of total grade

Notebooks: 25% of total grade

Cheating & Plagiarism

Plagiarism is stealing someone else's work and claiming it as your own. Any assignment that is plagiarized will receive a zero.
