Psychology Syllabus


Course Overview:  Over the course of the semester students will learn about the various aspects of the science of psychology, with an emphasis on sociology. Readings, lectures, and class discussions will be used to educate students about the science of sociology. Students will be encouraged and challenged to examine the science of sociology and its assertions about human behavior through the filter of Scripture and a Biblical worldview.

 

Materials: Students will need to come to class prepared with a notebook/paper and a pen. There is not a textbook for this course. Reading material will be provided by the instructor.

 

Behavior

Be sure to consult the Student Handbook on your behavior. I expect that full attention and respect will be given to me during class, as well as any other student who is answering a question or participating in class discussion. Rude words and behavior will not be tolerated!

Assignments

There will be various assignments throughout the semester. Check below and on the board in class for due dates. Assignments are due in class.

Late work will not be accepted. If there is some unavoidable circumstance, please see me and make arrangements. If you are absent, then you have the guidelines in the Handbook.

Please do your own work. If you need help, please come see me and I am more than happy to help.

Presentation Projects: Students will do two projects this semester on a topic relating to course material. Students will then do a presentation to the class of their project. Topics must be approved by the instructor. One presentation is due each quarter.

Grading

Presentation Projects: 60% of total grade.

Assignments: 40% of total grade.

Cheating

Cheating on tests and quizzes will not be tolerated. Any student who cheats on a quiz or a test will receive a zero.

Plagiarism is stealing someone else's work and claiming it as your own. Any assignment that is plagiarized will receive a zero.
