Course Objective:

The objective of this course is to teach students algebraic skills and how to use those skills in today's changing world. Students should also gain an understanding of the mathematical order in the world that God created.

One project will be required 4th quarter. This project will be worth 1 test grade.

 

 

Course of study:

This class will follow the general outline of the following course of study.

 

 

Algebra 1

1st Quarter   

Unit 1 Chapters 1-2 Foundations for Functions

2nd Quarter

Unit 2 Chapters 3-6 Linear Functions

3rd Quarter

Unit 3 Chapters 7-9 Polynomials and Nonlinear Functions

4th Quarter

Unit 4 Chapters 10-12 Advanced Expressions and Data Analysis

Materials Needed:

Algebra Textbook: Algebra 1  Published by Glencoe McGraw-Hill

 

Small three ring binder notebook with paper or 3- 5 subject sprial notebook

 

Pencil - mechanical preferred

 

Compass, protractor, ruler, and graph paper will be required

Please note that this class will require each student to work independently.  Students will be expected to be prepared EACH day.  Failure to adequately prepare for class will result in removal from the class.
