Painting Syllabus


With Mrs. Bumpas

 

Build on the knowledge of color theory and painting techniques covered in Art.  Realistic, abstract, and expressive styles of Art will be used.  Connected to these concepts students will study Art History and critique methods as well as the application of the Left/Right brain theory.

Media will include:  Tempera, acrylic and watercolor.

 

 

Grading Procedures:

Tests and Major Projects         70%

Sketchbook or Homework       30%

Total                                      100%

Major Projects will be graded as follows:

                        50% Participation

                        25% Execution

                        25% Skill

                      100% Total available project points

Sketchbooks and Projects are an integral part of the learning process and are expected to be done promptly.  All homework or sketchbook assignments will be due at the beginning of class unless otherwise noted.

Materials will be supplied by Westminster Christian Academy .  Students are to respect and take care of the supplies.  If teacher is aware of any misuse of property then a replacement fee will be discussed with the student.

Make – up work:

It is solely your responsibility to make up your work.  If you have an excused absence then you should check with the teacher for assign. on the first day back.

I will expect students to be accountable and responsible to turn in all missed work as I will not be asking for it.

Classroom Rules:

  1. Be in your seat when the tardy bell rings.
  2. Be respectful of others and other’s property.
  3. Bring all needed materials with you to class.
  4. No food or drink in classroom.
  5. Restroom between class time.
  6. Obey all school rules.
  7. Clean up all art supplies at your table and replace to the appropriate place.

Consequences for Classroom/School Violation:

First Offense:  Verbal Warning

Second Offense:  Detention/Parents called

Third Offense:  Discipline from Principle

**Severe disruptions in class will not be tolerated.  Student will be sent immediately to a school administrator.
