The 4th Annual Academy Fund Banquet sponsored by the Westminster Alumni Association was attended by over 200. The evening was a great success in every way. WCA alum Christie McCleary Weber ('91), accompanied by her mother, sang "If God Be For Us" from Handel's Messiah and "O Lord Most Holy" by Cesar Franck. She also delighted the guests with her violin during dinner.
Rex Vaughn, alumni parent and current parent, gave a passionate testimony of what Westminster Christian Academy has meant to him and his wife Kim in the raising of their children.
This year's featured speaker was Dr. George Grant of Franklin, Tennessee. Dr. Grant had just returned from northern Iraq where he visited 5 Christian schools which he was instrumental in establishing. In Franklin, Dr. Grant serves as president of the King's Meadow Study Center, the pastor of Parish Presbyterian Church, chancellor of New College Franklin, and founder of Franklin Classical School. He is the author of dozens of books and hundreds of essays and articles. In his "spare" time, Dr. Grant works on behalf of the homeless, for racial reconciliation and for the sanctity of life. His challenge for the Westminster community was to remain steadfast in our mission to influence our world for Christ, remembering that "it's not over until the trump sounds!"
